    Throughout one’s lifetime, individuals are exposed to emotional events that can effect and change the rest of their life. Major emotional events are portrayed in The Face on the Milk Carton, by Caroline B. Cooney and in Remember Me, by Cheryl Lanham. In both novels, the major characters are faced with emotional dilemmas that they must try to overcome. In the novel, The Face on the Milk Carton, the main character Janie Johnson, is taken on an “emotional roller coaster ride”. Her entire life is turned upside down; when she learns that something she has believed her entire life is not true. Janie is a naive teenager, who has lived a sheltered life.
