    Critical Inquiry: Jasmine Chapter 13-21 The next section of Jasmine starts with Jasmine’s relationship with her husband, Prakash. It is a happy time for Jasmine as Prakash was the one who brought out Jasmine’s true self. Prakash, who was still a student at the time, loved his wife, Jasmine, and dreamed of opening their own repair shop. He later applied and was accepted to a school in Tampa, Florida. Although Jasmine did not want Prakash to go to America but accepted the fact that it would provide them with a better life as well as make Prakash happy. While shopping for saris two members of the renegade Lions came in a left a bomb in the shop. It exploded killing Prakash but leaving Jasmine alive. Jasmine, who is now a widow, lives with her mother, also a widow. Jasmine cannot take it anymore and decides that she will go to America with or without Prakash. She obtains illegal documents and leaves for America. On the way, she meets a man who is the captain of the boat she’s on and she refers to him as Half-face because of his scarred appearance. She also meets a Jamaican man named Kingsland. Kingsland tells Jasmine stories about Half-face and told Jasmine, “Don’t truss dat mon, no way” (106). He even g
