Waiting for godot
Social Issues, such as identity, sexuality, truth, race, and death are approached differently in both detective- fiction and comedy. Through comedy, the author represents political and social issues through the use of humor. It often has a happy ending relevant to the theme of the story, opened to more than one interpretation. In detective fiction, the plot of the novel involves the construction of the truth which is based more on the mind's eye than in the facts. The existence of a mid-point between different circumstances does not exist, therefore, things are subjected to more than one constraint, and they are limited. In the detective- fiction play, Oedipus Rex, and the comedy play of Waiting for Godot, a social issue has a different meaning on each of them. In both plays, Oedipus Rex and Waiting for Godot, the dependence relationship between the characters encloses a thematic significance essential to the plot of the play. It is called upon by individuals, when they strongly believe they can no longer achieve anything by themselves because they are afraid of the truth, themselves or something they do not even know.
