Just another Night
It was about a month before I left Iowa to come to Vegas. As Josh and I were walking back to Freddy’s apartment, I turned to look behind us and I saw a flashlight shinning in my eyes. The police officer was walking toward us and asked us for our ID’s. He leaned me up against the car and frisked me. I put my arms behind my back; I felt the steel getting tighter against my wrist with every click. Next thing I knew I was in the back of the police car sitting in the most uncomfortable seat I had ever sat in. After Josh sat next to me we started laughing telling old stories. I finally felt relief after nine years. As the cop turned the car around, I remembered my last day of school in fifth grade. Ruben and I were walking home, and out of no where this guy in eighth grade came up behind us and started punching Ruben. Ruben started swinging back, but the guy had hit him a couple times and took off. This fight was not broken up like a lot of fights I had seen before. I could not believe that I just stood there and watched my best friend get beat, I did not help him. I have two older brothers and no one had ever messed with me or anyone of my friends before. Ruben had an older sister. He really did not have anyone to protect him. We
