THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT
- ABORTION –
Thou shalt not kill.
“You have heard that it was said to the men of old, “You shall not kill: and whoever kills shall be liable to judgment.” But I say to you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgment.”
Some abortion advocates recognise the folly of arguing from the alleged silence of scripture to justify abortion. Just because the scriptures do not specify thou shalt not kill a fetus inside a mother, it does not mean we are meant to interpret the term thou shalt not kill to being limited to human beings that have already been born. To many, the term “life” begins at conception and taking a “life” includes those lives that have not yet begun outside the womb.
