The novel Into Thin Air is about Jon Krakauer, who works for a magazine, and upon his own request is sent to Mount Everest to climb the mountain and write a story about his experience. He is very anxious to get to the summit because it has been a dream of his since childhood, and he feels that now it is finally within reach. When he meets the other members of his group he is a little unsure, knowing that when he is on the mountain he will have to trust them, and that this is the first time he has ever met any of them.
