Body Of Truth
Have you ever felt that what you are made to see as the truth might not always be the truth? At some point in our lives we will discover that we can’t believe the surface of things we see because there are no absolute truths. The Pascal quote of David Lindsey’s Body of Truth states, “we perceive an image of the truth and posses nothing but falsehood.” This epigraph is the message of the book as a whole, and the text of the novel proves that what we are made to see as the truth might not always be the truth.
Throughout the novel Dr.Grajeda is portrayed as a man who doesn’t trust others and keeps to himself. These qualities make Grajeda an excellent element in the novel to demonstrate to us that we can’t always believe everything we hear or see. When Haydon first questions Grajeda about Lena Muller he tells him he doesn't know who she is. Haydon views Grajeda to be straightforward and believes him. Later on in the novel Haydon agrees to meet Grajeda and has to take extreme caution not to be followed on his way to the shoe store.
