Selfish Desires
Wuthering Heights is not just a novel; it is a conduct on how to life to the fullest. When reading Wuthering Heights we learn that if you follow your selfish desires you will lead and unhappy life. In Wuthering Heights we see each character encounter some sort of situation that involves a physical or emotional barrier. The characters deal with these barriers selfishly; their selfish ways ultimately leads to their unhappiness, downfall and even death. Most characters in Wuthering heights deal with the barriers they encounter selfishly, we learn that no matter what type of barrier; physical or emotional, it will ultimately lead to their turmoil. We also find one character who deals their barrier unselfishly which leads to her and others happiness. Through her characters Emily Bronte teaches us how to live life with happiness. We must overcome out selfish desires to lead happy lives The physical and social barriers the characters encounter always seems to stand in the way of good judgement. In Wuthering Heights many characters follow their selfish desires when blockaded with these barriers and make horrible decisions. Three characters that come into mind are Heathcliff, Catherine senior, and Catherine
