Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity is the most common behavior disorder diagnosed in children with significant problems in 4 main areas.
1. Inattention - having a short attention span, being easily distracted
2. Impulsivity - cause a person to do dangerous or unwise things without thinking about the consequences
3. Hyperactivity - -a type of inappropriate or excessive activity that may occur periodically or only in certain situations
4. Boredom
This group of symptoms begins in early childhood and can continue into adulthood. At least nine percent of school age children are effected. Children can show signs of poor attention, hyperactivity or both. If they have poor attention they may find it hard to concentrate, follow directions or finish a job. If they have hyperactivity they may fidget, talk too much, interrupt others or keep leaving their seats at school. They can have trouble finishing schoolwork, getting along with other children, following directions, and obeying the rules.
